The Pentagon: We do not support a ceasefire in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Pentagon spokesman General Pat Ryder answered reporters’ questions at a press conference.

Regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Ryder said: “We do not support a ceasefire that would give Hamas time to regroup and expose Israeli citizens and others to danger.”

“I heard that US President Joe Biden supports the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and a humanitarian truce to allow prisoners and other citizens to leave,” Ryder said, adding that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also discussed delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Gaza, in his meetings with his counterparts, he declared that he had taken it.

Ryder said this is an issue they continue to highlight regularly.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan also commented on a humanitarian pause in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: “Any pause in the conflict would be in the interest of Hamas. That is a fact. There are many complex realities here. A humanitarian pause would be in the interest of Hamas.” “Be good for the release of the prisoners.” “But you can be sure that Hamas will use this to its advantage.”
