Yesterday morning I was talking to a colleague about an American actor and comedian named Dane Cook, who recently got married.
“Who is this guy?” I asked before she reminded me.
“He was that actor of the 2000s! Good luck Chuck, My best friend’s girl…”
Yes, now I remember.
Absolutely destroyed by Rotten Tomatoes (it got a 14 percent rating) My best friend’s girl Kate Hudson plays the female lead, along with Jason Biggs and Cook.
Cook plays Tank, an “asshole” who makes extra money by taking girls on the worst date of their lives to entice them to get back with their exes.
After Dustin (Biggs) is dumped by his girlfriend Alexis (Hudson), he asks his best friend and roommate Tank to do the same to her.
It’s not the best movie, but I remember Cook from it.
Dane Cook is now 51 years old. And on Sunday, September 24, he married his partner of six years, Kelsey Taylor, in Hawaii. She’s 24.
“Last night I married the girl of my dreams here in Hawaii. The greatest feeling in the world is realizing that next to you is the strongest person you can imagine, and giving him all your love in return,” the comedian wrote. on Twitter.
“The years of laughter, adventure and accomplishments we have shared were consolidated in front of some of our dearest friends and family during an emotional ceremony.
“I can’t wait to say more, but for now just know this… I’ve never felt like this. It’s so wonderful.”
Now, no judgment (okay, a little). I know that age is just a number (etc, etc, etc) and if they are happy, good for them.
But after remembering who he was and learning about his recent wedding, my colleague told me about how they met.
Before dating and marrying Taylor, Cook had several other relationships with significant age gaps.
Actress and ex american idol member Raquel Houghton dated him from 2004 to 2009. She was 28 when she ended the relationship and he was 37.
In 2010, Cook was photographed several times on dates with Julianne Hough. She was 22. He was 38.
The comedian then dated media personality Amanda Cerny from 2011 to 2014; their relationship began when she was 20 and he was 39.
In an interview in 2018 Jimmy KimmelCook poked fun at his 26-year age difference with his current wife: “Sometimes I find myself saying, ‘Where has she been all my life?’ And then I realized that for the first 26 years she was not alive.”
“People say, ‘You’re robbing the cradle,’” he continued. “I thought, ‘She hasn’t slept in a cradle for about nine years. Relax”.
The comedian then explained that he and Taylor met during a “game night” at his Los Angeles home in 2016.
At that time, the couple remained friends since Taylor was still underage, but when she turned 18, they officially began dating.
Cook is known for hosting game nights with his Hollywood friends like Seth Green and young girls. American journalist Tracy Egan Morrissey dedicated a highlight reel to them on Instagram.
“Dane regularly hosts game night and usually takes a group photo where he usually tags everyone, which makes my life a lot easier,” Morrissey captioned his screenshot. “Thanks, Dane.”
She discovered that actress Joey King attended a game night when she was 16 years old.
TAIL actress Amy Forsythe attended when she was 20, and Gossip (Reboot) star Emily Alyn Lind attended the event when she was 14 years old.
Actress Emily Robinson and former Disney Channel child star Bella Thorne also attended the event when they were both 18 years old.
Yeah.
Yesterday morning I was looking at photographs of an actor who had married a young woman, not knowing who he was or whether I should care.
Today that’s all I want to talk about.
