Sex, drugs and Rock’N’Roll. It’s all in the story of Benji, the former duo of Benji and Fede. There is crime and also repentance. “My ex and I had a threesome, she’s bisexual and she liked to involve other girls.” And along with sex there were also drugs and the danger of committing suicide. “I took a lot of drugs, at least once I risked dying from an overdose.”
At the age of 30, Benjamin Mascolo, having achieved success thanks to the music of the duo Benji and Fede, felt the need to confess and tell the truth. And the pages of Diva and Donna have it all.
“For years I lived a double life, I continued to lie to myself. If I didn’t tell everything, I wouldn’t be able to move forward,” he explained on Luca Casadei’s One More Time podcast. “I no longer wanted to hide my weaknesses and insecurities. I felt dirty, which made the situation worse. I came to say thank you to the year of psychoanalysis.”
The Bella Thorne Story
Everything is connected with his love story with American actress Bella Thorne, who was with him for two years, until 2022, and drugs. “We were often separated, she was in the USA, I was in Italy. She is bisexual, suffers from loneliness and one day asks me if she can date a girl. At this moment I say yes. I wanted to make her happy. Then it so happened that we had sexual relations with other girls. At first you think: “How cool. I’m engaged, in love, and also sleeping with other women: models, actresses…” I didn’t realize it was undermining our intimacy.
Benji is a wild river. He’s letting off steam. “She was jealous when we had a threesome, and then I wanted to do it again, but not with her. He once told me: “Yes, but with me you will never want to do this twice in a row.” It was a lose-lose situation for both of them. Our relationship lasted a little over three years, and this threesome lasted about a year and a half.”
After breaking up with Fede, he went to live in Los Angeles, in Beverly Hills. His downfall is because his insecurities took over. And that was (almost) the end. “In Italy I was a pop star, I had money. There I was nobody, I felt inferior. Then bad company introduced me to solids. I started using amphetamines and methamphetamines. The last year was the hardest: I used amphetamines every day. I took psychedelic mushrooms two or three times a week. I started with ecstasy. This thing progressed and I ended up taking six or seven ecstasy tablets in one day and not sleeping for a week, completely delirious. My friends tried to help me, but I made them run away. Bella told me, “Until you solve your drug problems, we won’t be able to live together anymore.” I moved into a hotel in Beverly Hills with a friend who had a drug problem. We started hanging out without restrictions. I haven’t slept for a week. Many times I was afraid to die…”
Drugs
Then again: “I risked dying from an overdose. At that moment I repeated in my head: “I want to live, I want to live.” Then, after being kicked out by his girlfriend, he hit rock bottom: “I was at a party and took ecstasy and thought, ‘I need to talk to Bella.’ I arrived at her house at half past four in the morning, climbed over the gate and then, I don’t know why, began to undress: I entered the house naked, she was trying to sleep, she turned to me and started screaming. He shouted at me to leave, I ran out of the house naked. My friend who lived with Bella came running to my aid and saved me.”
He decided to return to Italy, to Modena, his city. He decided to start from scratch. “When I came to Modena, I found true love again and gave up drugs. I have been sober since June 19, 2022.” And he found love again. “My girlfriend takes care of me, I take care of her. She is not from the entertainment world and has never used drugs. I find peace of mind and consider myself very lucky. What do I want in the future? I want to have a family.”
