Today’s Newspaper | #Asu486: Party at the Asunceno microcentro this August 15th

One of the samples of “femicide”.

The “Feminicide” exhibition opens at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 7 at the Juan de Salazar Cultural Center in Spain. This is part of the eighth “Paraguay Month of Photography” organized by the collective “El Ojo Salvaje”.

The authors of the exhibition are Argentinian artists Daiana Valencia and Celeste Alonso, trained in journalistic and documentary photography and members of the Rueda collective in Argentina.

This is a documentary work that deeply explores the social issues of the countries in the region. “…We focus on what is uncomfortable, we focus on the femicide, and we ask ourselves, who is he? what do you like? where does he live? where was he born which school does he go to? What is he studying? what have you done? What do you do in your free time? Who are your parents, your siblings, your friends?

“We are interested in investigating their stories, removing the superficial structure of each case, asking questions that arise from misunderstandings of what happened: Is this person working next to me/you in the office this morning capable of doing this? Classmate, can you do such a cruel thing?

“femicide” is a project that integrates the third volume of the magazine “Sueño de la Razón” (Chile, 2021/2022).It is exhibited at Aula Escuela Space (Cuenca, Ecuador, 2021); Argentine Biennale of Documentary Photography (Tucumán, 2022).

It is published as a book by Editorial Estrondo (Brazil, 2022). “Feminicide” is part of the collective exhibition “Para Todes Tode” at the Jaroldo Conte Memory Cultural Center (Buenos Aires, 2019). The multimedia work “Azcona”, which is part of the article “Killing Feminists”, was selected for the Cali Photo Festival 2020 and exhibited at the La Tertulia Museum in Colombia.

Its editorial format is currently in Paraguay’s Text Foundation.
