Unreleased No Way Home art pays off, hinting at new goblin from MCU’s Spider-Man 3

Summary

New concept art for Spider-Man: No Home hints that Ned Leeds could take on the role of the Hobgoblin, as he is shown using the Green Goblin’s hang glider and pumpkin bombs. The sequel to Spider-Man: No Home could show Ned’s darker path as his character is left to his own devices and could fall into the hands of the real Hobgoblin from the comics. A release date for Spider-Man 4 has yet to be announced, but fans can look forward to the return of Ned and Michael Jackson in future installments of the MCU, hopefully in the near future.

While Ned Leeds shined in Spider-Man: No Home, unlocking his magical potential, new concept art reveals a big Hobgoblin reference. Spider-Man: No Way Home was, without a doubt, the most important film for Peter Parker in the history of Spider-Man media. Not only did Tom Holland’s Peter Parker get his trilogy wrapped up, he also shared the screen with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men as they battled villains from the Sam Raimi and Mark Webb franchises.

Peter had a lot in Spider-Man: No Home, but his best friend Ned also had a chance to be in the spotlight, discovering his potential for magic. However, it seems that the Phase 4 movie almost paid homage to the comic story of Ned as a Hobgoblin.

Unused No Way Home Concept Art Makes ‘Spider-Man 4’ Villain Theory More Likely

While Ned and Peter have been portrayed as best friends throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: No Home ends with the wall-crawler alone and his friends and loved ones forgetting who he really is. With that in mind, this could be the start of a dark path for Ned in Spider-Man 4 as the sequel is still in development. Of course, a different take on Ned the Hobgoblin’s path would be needed, as he and Peter were originally the Daily Bugle’s rivals in the comics.

Depending on when Spider-Man 4 takes place, the storyline could show Ned messing with the wrong people, including Roderick Kingsley, the real Hobgoblin who ends up turning him into a comic book supervillain. It will be a devastating story arc for Peter, but also an opportunity for Spider-Man 4 to make the hero his friend again, find a way to save him, and make him remember their friendship.

For now, the big question is when Spider-Man 4 will actually release, as nothing has been announced yet. However, Ned and MJ will most likely return in the next chapter. We hope fans see the characters in the MCU again after Spider-Man: No Way Home, hopefully before what happened soon.
