Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith takes subtle jab at Bulls legend Michael Jordan

The Chicago Bulls competed in the 1990s. More specifically, Michael Jordan dominated the 1990s. His Bulls won six championships in eight years and completely dominated the rest of the league. The only two years they didn’t win were when Jordan retired to play baseball.

The Bulls faced the Utah Jazz in the Finals two years in a row and won both years. One of those two games featured one of the most iconic shots in NBA history, when Jordan stepped back for a mid-range shot that helped seal the 1998 Finals in Utah.

However, to this day, Jazz fans still believe Jordan pushed past Brian Russell while shooting. Jazz owner and longtime fan Ryan Smith even named Utah’s in-arena WiFi after the moment, taking a subtle jab at Jordan in the process. (HT The Pat McAfee Show)

“I remember there was a lot of discussion that year between Michael Jordan and Jazz fans,” Smith said. “Whether it’s pizza, getting sick, going to Vegas, whatever it is. The WiFi in the building was ‘Jordan turned it down.'”

Jazz fans are clearly still upset about the call, but as they angrily recall, Jordan will polish off his sixth ring.
