“I struggled with this for a while and decided it was time to move on from Voice after Season 23,” Shelton said in a statement. “This show has changed my life for the better in every way and I will always feel at home here. It’s been one hell of a ride these 12 years of changing chairs and I want to thank everyone at Voice from NBC, every producer, writers, musicians, crew and food service workers; you are the best.”

Shelton appeared at the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards back in September and received the Social Country Star Award.

“Wow,” Shelton said in his acceptance speech, before cheekily saying, “I moved to Nashville in 1994. And man, I had a lot of dreams. This wasn’t one of them! I don’t even know what that means, but If the fans want me to have it, I’ll damn well hang it on my mantle! Thank you very much, country music fans. That’s right! That’s right, social media! Yes!
