Michelle Campbell works closely with LeBron James and his philanthropic efforts. She is the executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation. She worked in education for many years and worked at the I Promise School in James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio.
Campbell, like James, is from Akron and has worked in education for many years. She received her undergraduate degree from Ashland University, her M.Ed. from Kent State University, and her Ed.D. from the University of Akron. She held several director of student affairs and dean positions at the University of Akron.

In 2006, Campbell continued with LRMR Ventures as Chief Operating Officer. The investment firm is owned by LeBron James and his close business associates. His business partners include Rich Paul, Maverick Carter and Randy Mims. The company invests in the wealth generated by James and his partners’ businesses and supports education.
Campbell’s primary responsibility is working with the LeBron James Family Foundation to provide educational support to underprivileged children, particularly the inner-city areas of Northeast Ohio where James is from.
Campbell and the foundation are committed to solving the dropout crisis in Ohio’s high schools. The program provides educational support to third grade students to help them graduate from high school.
The foundation also has a partnership with the University of Akron to provide four-year scholarships to eligible students in programs created by the foundation. She continues to work with James and his foundation through I Promise Schools.
What is LeBron James’ “I Promise School”?
I Promise School, co-founded by LeBron James, is more than just a school in Akron, Ohio. The school enrolls students in grades 1-8. It runs in conjunction with the I Promise program, which helps young students on their path to high school graduation.
Campbell is also responsible for the expansion of the I Commitment program. The program includes a long-term low-income housing project as well as a transitional housing facility.
They are also spearheading a new campaign called House Three 30. The project is located in the historic center of activity in Tangier, Akron. The new facility will serve as a center for job training, event space and financial wellness for the community.
The program has helped more than 1,500 students. It continues to provide foundational resources, educational support and family planning to help students reach their full potential.
