Furiousthe long-awaited prequel to the famous film Mad Max: Fury Roadcould see his debut in the prestigious setting of the Cannes Film Festival.
After participating out of competition in the 75th festival with Three thousand years of waitingGeorge Miller actually intended to advertise his return to the Croisette as the new chapter of the famous post-apocalyptic saga created by him in 1979.
In 2015, Cannes proved to be an effective springboard for Fury Roadwhich just a few weeks later grossed $347 million worldwide, also winning well six Oscar winners. According to an insider, Warner Bros. and an Australian director will seek to revive this approach. Either way, each decision will be tied to ending the SAG-AFTRA strike that has paralyzed Hollywood in recent months.
Festival director Thierry Fremaux stated this in an interview with Kommersant. Diversity all of it enthusiasm in this case:
We have incredible memories of the world premiere of Fury Road in Cannes. It would be great to welcome them back with Furiosa, especially since George Miller was a wonderful jury chairman in 2016. I know he’s working on a film and I hope it will be in Cannes.
It hasn’t arrived yet no official comment from Warner Bros., but it cannot be ruled out that it could arrive in the next few hours.
Waiting to find out if Furious will actually see its debut during the prestigious French event, we remind you that the film will be dedicated to the adventures of the young Empress Furiosa performed by Charlize Theron V Fury Road. In the new version, the heroine will be played by Briton Anya Taylor-Joy, and Chris Hemsworth will debut as the villain.

As the world collapses, young Furiosa is torn from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a vast horde of bikers led by the warlord Dementus. While exploring the Wasteland, he encounters the Citadel, which is controlled by Immortan Joe. As two tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa faces many trials as she searches for ways to find her way home.
The film was directed again George Millerwho also wrote the script in collaboration with Niko Lathouris. Most of the team was involved in the production of the film, resulting in Mad Max: Fury Road, six Oscar winners. They include production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel and makeup artist Leslie Vanderwalt.
They will be present in the film’s cast. Anya Taylor-Joy as the main character, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nathan Jones AND Angus Sampson.
