Activities targeting risk groups start next Thursday

The provincial health ministry reports that the flu vaccination campaign will begin next Thursday in Córdoba.

Immunization is available for boys and girls aged 6 to 24 months, health workers, pregnant women, people over 65 years of age and immunocompromised patients.

The aim is to reduce the risk of complications of the disease in the target population. It will be carried out in more than 800 vaccination centers across the province.

In the first phase, priority will be given to boys and girls aged 6 to 24 months, health workers, pregnant women and people over 65 years old.

As more shipments arrive, we will report on when other target groups will be able to receive doses, based on prioritization of risk groups.

For postpartum women, if no protective measures were taken during pregnancy, they should be kept in hospital for up to 10 days after discharge from the delivery room.

People between the ages of 2 and 64 with risk factors must also receive the vaccine. They must present documentation of pre-existing medical conditions, including risk factors: obesity, diabetes, respiratory disease, heart disease, congenital or acquired immune deficiencies, patients with oncohematological disorders, transplant recipients, or those with chronic renal failure of dialysis patients.

People under 18 years of age with severe delayed sexual maturation, genetic syndromes, neuromuscular disorders with respiratory compromise, and severe congenital malformations should also receive a dose.

This includes patients under 18 years of age receiving long-term acetylsalicylic acid treatment, cohabitants of patients with oncohematological diseases, and cohabitants of premature infants weighing less than 1,500 grams.

The formula of the vaccine changes with each vaccination depending on the circulating virus strain, which is why vaccination is required again every year.

About the flu

Influenza, or influenza, is a respiratory viral illness that usually occurs during the coldest months of the year.
