Street Kings, a 2008 movie starring Chris Evans before entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America in 2011, is currently topping the Netflix charts. Directed by Suicide Squad’s David Ayer, the film follows an LAPD officer who is framed for the death of another cop and begins to suspect a conspiracy. The film’s all-star cast also includes Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Common and Game.

Netflix has compiled a list of the 10 most popular English-language films in the world for the week of August 21-27. Street Kings peaked at number four on the chart with 5.7 million views and a total of 10.3 million hours, despite not even being available in the US. It ranks just below the Netflix originals The Monkey King, You Don’t Get Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, and Gal Gadot’s Heart of Stone.

Chris Evans’ pre-MCU career is full of unique roles.

Even though Captain America is the role that made Evans a superstar, he was already a rising star well before 2011. His pre-MCU role even includes another Marvel superhero. He played Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch, in the 2005 Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

However, despite his superhero ancestry, Evans demonstrated his versatility across a wide variety of genres during this time as well. This includes his early work in teen projects, such as the 2001 parody Not Another Teen Movie, which mixes elements of She’s All That, 10 Things I Hate About You, and many other popular teen movies. He also starred in the teen drama Pitch Perfect alongside his future MCU co-star Scarlett Johansson.

After his film teenage years, he began acting in several thrillers and action films, including Street Kings, Cellular, Sunshine, and Push. However, she has also shown off her comedic skills in films like The Nanny Diaries (also starring Johansson) and How Much Do You Have? (which came out the same year as Captain America). Although he is most closely associated with the MCU in the public eye today, Evans was building his star potential long before 2011 rolled around.
