First Director’s Film Award in Venice

Another important recognition for Luca Calvani. The actor and director from Prato won the Kineo Award for Best Debut in Comedy. The award will be presented to him tomorrow evening as part of the just-begun Venice Film Festival. Calvani was awarded precisely for his first directorial film “Il Cacio con le pere”, which marked his journey behind the camera, after a long career as an actor as well as a TV presenter, culminating in the 2006 win “Island of the Famous”.

“The news that our little film won this award,” Calvani says enthusiastically, “flatters me and makes me really proud. Il cacio con le pere is a movie about relationships. It is the story of a conflicted relationship between two opposite brothers and this award confirms how important the topic of discussion is, especially at a historical moment when we are increasingly seeing a polarization of ideas and positions.” After participating in the last edition of the Taormina festival with the film “On Fire”, which Calvani directed with Amber Heard and which Released on September 14, Calvani is getting ready to walk another red carpet on the beach in Venice with the rest of the cast.

The Kineo Award is one of the most prestigious awards, conceived and directed by Rosetta Sannelli, and is now in its third decade. The godmother of the twenty-first issue will be Ana De La Reguera. Among the awards announced in this edition are production designer Julian Schnabel, Laura Morante, Alessandro Sperduti and many more. As the first work, Prato’s film with Francesco Ciampi, Geppi Cucciari, Anna Safronique, Elena Di Cioccio, Giusi Merli and the funny Giancuna Gori, or Drusilla Foer without make-up and wig, won in full.

It can be seen that they got into the plot and comedic tone, absolutely polite and funny. Fosco and Fred are two completely different brothers. The first, simple and free, works in a supermarket. The second, as fascinating as it is superficial, is trying to get rich in the film world. An unexpected inheritance received after the death of an old aunt will again put them at odds with all their differences. Tomorrow evening, in the splendid surroundings of the Cà Sagredo Hotel, the awards ceremony will take place under the direction of Fabio Fulcó.
