More than 700 entertainment industry professionals have signed an open letter expressing their support for Israel and condemnation of Hamas.

The letter is the first major move by the entertainment industry since the deadly Hamas attack. last Saturday.

Chris Pine, Gal Gadot, Amy Schumer, Mark Hamill, Jamie Lee CurtisMichael Douglas, Bella Thorne and Jerry Seinfeld were among those who signed the letter released Thursday by the entertainment industry nonprofit. Creative Community for Peace.

The letter calls on entertainment industry leaders to “take a strong stand against Hamas and do everything in their power to persuade the terrorist organization to return innocent hostages to their families.”

“This is terrorism. This evil. There is no justification or rationalization for Hamas’s actions,” the letter says.

It also included a warning calling on public figures in the entertainment industry to “refrain from spreading misinformation about the war” and avoid amplifying any “propaganda.”

At the time of writing, more than 1,400 people have been killed in Gaza. Hamas attacks on Israel over the weekend killed 1,300 people and took 150 civilians hostage. Israel is expected to launch a ground invasion of Gaza, which Hamas says it is capable of repelling.

Here is the full text of the open letter:

“The nightmare that Israelis feared for decades became a reality when Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israeli cities and towns.

Under cover of thousands of rockets fired indiscriminately at civilians, Hamas killed and kidnapped innocent men, women and children. They kidnapped and killed babies and old people. They kidnapped women and mutilated their bodies. They paraded their bodies in the streets and on social media and cowardly attacked the Supernova music festival, bringing death and destruction to an event that celebrated friendship and love.

This is terrorism. This evil. There is no justification or rationalization for Hamas’ actions. These are barbaric acts of terrorism that everyone should speak out about. It is a terrorist organization whose leaders call for the murder of Jews everywhere.

CCFP calls on our friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry to take a strong stand against Hamas and do everything in their power to persuade the terrorist organization to return innocent hostages to their families.

As Israel takes the necessary steps to protect its citizens in the coming days and weeks, social media will be taken over by an orchestrated disinformation campaign led by Iran. We urge everyone to be mindful of the horrific images coming out of Israel and not to be influenced or influenced by their propaganda.

Our thoughts are with everyone experiencing unfathomable levels of fear and violence, and we look forward to the day when Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in peace.”
