Netflix shared first Photo Sofia Vergara as Griselda Blanco in the simply titled 6-episode miniseries Griselda. Vergara also co-creates and executive produces with Eric Newman (Narcos) and director Andres Buys. The series will debut in January 2024 on Netflix.
Co-creator and executive producer Eric Newman said:
As a Colombian immigrant and single mother who came to America and built an empire, Sofia shares the personal aspect of this character, and her passion for telling her story was undoubtedly the driving force behind this project. What will really surprise audiences is how she manages to embody this absolute darkness in her performance, away from the comedy she is loved and known for. Finding the right path to play this role was a big challenge for him on this series, and seeing the transformation succeed was a privilege.
Director and executive producer Andres Baiz added:
When we meet Griselda, she is a woman crushed by the male-dominated world around her. We also witness her evolution as she turns her oppression into a tool for instilling terror: these images provide just the first glimpse of this duality that I find so interesting about Griselda, and Sofia Vergara manages to capture its essence poignantly.

With a lethal combination of unexpected cruelty and charm, Blanco managed to keep her business and family in her hands, earning her the nickname “Godmother.”
