This is the most awaited day of summer, the watershed between two perfect halves of the hottest period of the year. Ferragosto originates in the history of ancient Rome – the name comes from the Latin Fairs of August (the remnant of Augustus), in honor of Octavian Augustus, the first Roman emperor, from whom the month of August took its name, and then intersects with the Christian feast of the Assumption in Heaven, dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
Thus, a day of celebrations, both religious and civil, during which Italians mainly dedicate themselves to picnics and barbeques, without neglecting cultural and artistic visits.

PLEASURE – 11:00 a.m. at the cathedral in Piacenza. The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, to which the Cathedral of Piacenza is dedicated, presided over by the Bishop of Mons. Adriano Chevolotto and inspired by the Ecuadorian community led by the Scalabrian fathers.
PLEASURE – At the Chapel of San Rocco on Via Legnano in Piacenza: at 8.30 am morning praise and blessing of sandwiches; at 9.00 mass; at 11 a solemn mass.
PLEASURE – 21.15 Daturi Arena. Movie Under the Stars: Magic Mike the Last Dance directed by Steven Soderbergh with Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek.
BOBBIO – Specially in the middle of August to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption with lots of music, entertainment and fun. Fireworks from Ponte Gobbo at 23:30.
BRAHMAIANO DI BETTOLA – August party.
KAORSO – Tuesday, August 15 at 09.30 mass, at the end of the procession with statues of patron saints through the streets of the city and the distribution of the consecrated San Rocco sandwiches. Wednesday, August 16, from 8.30 am the distribution of San Rocco sandwiches; at 10 mass in honor of the patron; at 18.30 vespers and the Eucharistic blessing are sung.
METALLURGY – from 17.00 polenta about Assof.
MONTE MORIA PROVINCE PARK – Party in the Provincial Park, Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 August, organized by Proloco Monastero di Morfasso.
NIBBIAN – 21:00 Concert by Paul Roland, accompanied by a group of young talents.
RIVERGARO – 22:00 Back to the 90s.
SARMED – 9:30 a.m. procession from the sanctuary to the main church for Mass and the handing over of San Rocchino to a worthy citizen. At 16.00 celebrations in honor of the patron saint of San Rocco.
