Pools and Spas for Summer in Michoacan

Water samples were taken from 105 swimming pools across the state

Morelia, Michoacan, July 27, 2023. – The Michoacan State Secretariat of Health (SSM) has informed the public that the state’s pools and spas are suitable for swimmers during the summer holidays and do not present health risks.

The National Council on Health Risk Prevention (Coepris) tested water samples from 105 swimming pools at sports clubs, spas and swim schools across the state to determine their suitability for crowd use.

That is why, during these summer holidays, the water in spas, sports clubs and hotels is suitable for human recreation, so there is no risk of contracting skin diseases, conjunctivitis or intestinal diseases.

The hot spring baths are monitored before the festival. Once unqualified pools are found, they can be corrected in time to avoid risks to tourists.

Water parks, sports clubs, and hotel swimming pools are monitored year-round, but more intensively during holidays, for the absence of fecal coliforms, E. coli, and free-living amoebas. Chlorination of pools has been proven to be adequate and the vital fluids people use to wash their hands or bathe in are potable and cannot be recycled.

suggestion:

– Even if children know how to swim without adult supervision, do not leave them alone.

– Keep an eye on children because accidents happen when adults get distracted.

-Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and use sunscreen.

– Do not drink alcohol before or while swimming.

– Follow the pool rules and shower before swimming.
