Transformers: The Awakening, aka Transformers 7, will arrive in the summer. Here are all the details and news so far about the next film in the franchise
The updates of Transformers – The Awakeninginclude an inside look at the film’s cast, its release date, story details, and how it’s connected to the franchise at large. Paramount launched the film series transformers based on the iconic toys of Hasbro in 2007, directed by Michael Bay, Sam Whitwicky And Shia LaBeouf as protagonist.
After five entries in the main franchise (the last two led by Mark Wahlberg), it was decided to take the Autobots in a new direction that will continue in transformers 7. Notably, the new film will draw from the cartoon Beast Wars For first time. The feature film will be released in theaters in June of this year.
After the disappointment of Transformers: The Last Knight, Paramount used Bumblebee as a soft reboot for the franchise. With a limited budget and focus, the film was a hit, with Hailee Steinfeld as the new protagonist. Bumblebee it gave the studio the confidence to continue the franchise. The awakening has resurrected the original cartoon, and Paramount hopes it will do the same for the movies, with Tranformers 7 which adds Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons into the mix.

There have been updates regarding transformers 7 during the Super Bowl in January, in which the new character, Mirage, has been announced. Voiced by Pete DavidsonMirage is a new Autobot hero in film, although he has previously appeared in the 1980s cartoon series and Marvel comics based on the characters. He also appeared in all three chapters of the cartoon Transformers: War for Cybertron on Netflix. Based on the Super Bowl commercial, Mirage will replace Bumblebee as the car connected to the human hero.

Updates indicate that the human cast is led by Anthony Ramos (Hamilton), who plays an ex-military man and family man named Noah. Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah) is the second main human character and will play an artifact researcher named Elena. Also Luna Lauren Velez (Dexter) was cast in an undisclosed role. All in all, the human cast of transformers 7 it’s pretty sparse, with a few credited extra roles here and there. Still, the roster of new Transformers is pretty extensive, with some old fan favorites joining in on the fun as well.
In addition to the human characters who have become staples of the franchise, a range of both old and new Autobots will be featured. Peter Cullen he returns to voice Optimus Prime in his G1 design, and Bumblebee is obviously once again a key character. Mirage, voiced by Pete Davidsonis back with a brand new design, closer to its origins. Arcee also returns, with Lisa Koshy (Work It) who lends his voice to the character. Wheeljack will return and be voiced by Cristo Fernández (Ted Lasso).
Alongside these updates is a host of new Transformers. Nightbird, which will be played by Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Poses), will be on Terrorcon’s side, alongside new big bad Scourge (Peter Dinklage, game of Thrones). Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once) will play Maximal Airazor. The Maximal Rhinox is also in the movie, with David Sobolov which doubles him along with the Terrorcon Battletrap. Finally, the leader of the Maximals, Optimus Primal, will be voiced by none other than Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy).

The title is a direct reference to the movie adapting the fan-favorite storyline of the Transformers mythos, Beast Wars. The story originally took place approx 300 years after the events of the cartoon, when Transformers animals, known as Maximals and Predacons took center stage. In film, the emergence of these Transformers, along with Terrorcons, will come in 1994 for a story that begins in Brooklyn, New York. This will follow a pair of Brooklyn archaeologists, Noah and Elena, as they become involved with the new Transformer factions: the Maximals, the Predacons and the Terrorcons. Beyond this premise, however, much of the story de The awakening remains a mystery.
