LIDO DI VENICE – The girls were waiting for Zendaya, they will have Pierfrancesco Favino. They were hoping for a selfie with Emma Stone (and their moms with Bradley Cooper), they can count on (probably) Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz. This is the aftermath of the American actors’ strike, so much so that only those from independent productions can be on the Lido this year, provided they get an exemption. But even without the sparkle of stars and stripes at the Venice Film Festival in ’80, the show is guaranteed, as evidenced by the festival’s eleven-day calendar announced today, Wednesday, August 9, Biennale. Moviegoers are getting ready, tickets will go on sale from 15:00 on Friday, August 11.

It is not known if the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will arrive for the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, August 30 (at the moment, rather no than yes, in case it will be his fourth time at the Lido after 2015, 2017 and the 2021 edition), however, they are there will be representatives of the new government, starting with Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano. And for gossip lovers, one of the most anticipated screenings will be the catwalk of Pietro Castellitto’s film “Aenea”: will the main character Benedetta Porcaroli still team up with the director (the former Mathilde De Angelis) or will she confirm the memory with Riccardo Scamarchio? Nothing is known about the plot of the film “Memory” by Michel Franco. And here the hope of selfie hunters, given that this is an independent film and it will be presented on Friday, September 8, that is, the last day of the festival, is that the main character Jessica Chastain will be released and arrive at the Lido.
