We are waiting for the films Venice, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Brignano 007, the novelties of the cinema of the weekend

The month of August ends with a grand return to the cinema of Johnny Depp, who this time plays the role of King Louis XV of France in the historical drama Jeanne du Barry – the King’s Favorite. A French-made film directed by actress and director Maiwenn, who also plays the title character: the film tells the story of Marie-Jeanne Becou, ​​Comtesse du Barry, the last mistress of the King of France after the more famous Madame de Pompadour. Madame DuBarry has been defined as “the most envied and hated woman of her time, the epitome of social superiority and success.” the type of controversial figure that Maiwenn has always drawn attention to throughout her career.. The film was presented on 16 May 2023 as the opening film of the 76th Cannes Film Festival; it was released the same day in cinemas in France, where it immediately achieved good success at the box office.

Also in theaters this weekend is the new adventure of the four funniest turtles, the animated movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Mutant Chaos.. Born like comics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has seen many TV and movie adaptations, including two recent episodes with Megan Fox as April O’Neil. Unlike some previous productions, this film tries to stay true to one of the main characteristics of the original characters, namely their young age, which is also well conveyed by the absolutely coordinated cast: Nicolas Cantu (2003) provides the voice of Leonardo, Mika Abbey (2007) plays Donatello , Shamon Brown Jr. (2004) is Michelangelo, and Brady Noon (2005) is Raphael’s doppelgänger.

Of the Italian productions, we note the release of “Dangerous Comedy”, a cheerful yellow-pink film imitating James Bond.. Directed by Alessandro Pondi, the cast includes Enrico Brignano as Agent Mao, Gabriella Pession as the attractive neighbor, and Fortunato Cerlino as Commissioner Laneve. Finally, we recall that “Oppenheimer”, one of the most anticipated films of this summer, is in theaters both in dubbing and in the original language with subtitles.
