Alison Miller was a healthy young woman from Wisconsin, USA, until she started experiencing sore throats and headaches.

When these discomforts worsened, he went to the emergency room for an X-ray, which found nothing worrisome.

“I had a little sniffle, but everything else seemed fine. They sent me home and told me to come back to the hospital if it got worse,” the woman said.

But when he got home, Miller felt severe pain in his back, causing him to faint. When he went to the emergency room, doctors told him his flu had progressed into bacterial pneumonia, affecting both lungs. This resulted in life-threatening sepsis.

What is sepsis?

It occurs when this infection spreads throughout the body, causing blood pressure to drop dramatically. This infection can be caused by any infection-causing bacteria, fungus, or virus.

If not handled in time, multiple system failures may occur. In the case of Alison Miller, her left leg had to be amputated above the knee when she lost circulation.

“When I woke up, it had been three weeks. I woke up in a very disorganized position and my left leg was gone,” Fox News reported.

Apart from amputationalso suffered from permanent lung damage and below-average heart function.
